Give Blood Give Life is a mobile app that connects blood donors with people in urgent need. It shortens the time it takes to find blood and helps ease shortages, so more lives can be saved.
The challenge
Finding blood donors quickly is hard in an emergency, and shortages cost lives. The client needed a fast, simple way to connect donors with people in immediate need.
Our solution
We built an app where people can sign up as blood donors and where a single search shows donors nearby. By connecting donors and those in need directly, it cuts the time to find blood and helps reduce shortages.
How we approached it
Urgency shaped the sequencing: matching donors to requests was built first and everything else arranged around it, because the app's value is entirely in how fast that connection happens. Firebase handled real-time notification so a request reaches donors without a polling delay, and the Flutter client was built once against both platforms since donors are on whatever phone they own.
The results
Made it faster to find nearby blood donors and helped ease shortages by connecting donors directly with people in immediate need.
