IFC Market is a global Forex and CFD trading provider. It lets traders access a wide range of instruments with low fixed spreads through professional trading platforms, and runs on an MLM structure.
The challenge
The client needed a platform to support global Forex and CFD trading across many instruments, with an MLM structure behind it.
Our solution
We worked on the platform built in PHP (CodeIgniter) around an MLM system. It gives traders access to a wide range of instruments — currencies, metals, gold, and CFDs on stocks, commodities, indices and ETFs — with low fixed spreads through professional trading platforms.
How we approached it
Trading platforms are unforgiving about correctness, so the work concentrated on the backend and the data model: instruments, spreads and account structures were modelled first, with the database designed around the query patterns the platform actually runs rather than a generic schema. CodeIgniter was the incumbent framework and we worked within its conventions instead of introducing a parallel structure that the client's team would then have to maintain.
