Guildhouse

A bespoke membership platform with community, booking and payments in one fast product.

Membership & Associations 2022 2 people

Project overview

Guildhouse needed a single system to run its membership organisation. We built a secure backend paired with a public-facing website, so administrators and members work from one connected platform instead of scattered tools.

The challenge

Managing members, subscriptions and add-ons across separate tools made administration slow and error-prone, and members had no simple way to manage their own profiles or content.

Our solution

We built a membership management platform with a secure admin backend and a public website. Administrators manage members, subscriptions and add-ons in one place, while members get self-service access to update their profile and upload portfolio images based on their subscription tier. A flexible flag system sets member statuses and add-ons, and subscription-based controls tie each member's access to their plan.

How we approached it

We started from the membership rules, because tiers, add-ons and entitlements are what every other feature depends on. A flag-based model was chosen over hard-coded tiers so the client could introduce new statuses and add-ons without a development cycle. The admin surfaces were built first so staff could manage real members, then the member-facing self-service views, then the public website — each layer only once the one beneath it held real data.

The results

Centralised member and subscription management in one platform, cut manual administration, improved data accuracy, and gave members a smoother self-service experience tied to their plan.
